Supply Chain News & Insights from Rebus
July 2024
Hi there,
As we wrap up the first half of the calendar year, there’s a mixed bag of news for supply chains in 2024.
- The good news: Operations are closer to normal compared to the past few years. Disruptions are less frequent.
- The challenges: Geopolitical issues, labor actions, and environmental regulations could cause problems.
Companies may be hesitant to invest in building resilience due to economic pressures, but resilience is the key to navigating the unknown disruptions that are sure to come.
Here are some key trends to consider as we go into the latter half of 2024:
- Technology focus: Businesses are looking to improve data management and leverage technologies like AI for better forecasting and visibility.
- Collaboration is key: Companies are working more closely with suppliers and partners to improve information sharing and respond to disruptions quickly.
- Sustainability matters: There’s a growing focus on environmentally friendly practices throughout the supply chain.
Overall, most in the supply chain are in a state of cautious optimism. By investing in technology, building strong partnerships, and focusing on resilience, companies can navigate the remaining challenges.
What has been true in the past, remains true today: it will take a committed effort to continue building a profitable business. Don’t get too comfortable. Keep pressing for investment, building a culture that’s willing to meet the challenge, and bolstering your relationships with suppliers and partners.
Best,
Leigh Chesley
